3 Things You Can Do To Reduce The Amount Of Maintenance You Have To Do On Your Landscaping

July 25, 2022 by Curtis Leave a Comment

While some people love spending time outside working on their yard and the landscaping of their property, many people find this chore taxing and tiresome. For those who find themselves in the latter category, you’ll be happy to know that there are plenty of things you can do to help you spend less time working in your yard while still being able to enjoy a beautifully landscaped property.

To help you see how this can be done, here are three things you can do to reduce the amount of maintenance you have to do on your landscaping.

Don’t Cut Your Grass Too Low

If you have grass as part of your landscaping, you may find that you have to cut the grass more often in the summertime, as this is typically when the grass has the right conditions for growth. But if you’re tired of having to cut the grass so often, you can adjust the length to which you cut the grass to help with this,

While it might make sense to cut the grass as low as possible so you can let it grow longer before having to cut it again, actually leaving your grass a bit longer when you cut it can help to prevent having to cut it as often. Depending on the type of climate you live in, cutting your grass somewhere between 1.5 to 2.5 inches should be ideal for keeping weeds at bay and slowing down the rate at which you need to mow.

Install The Right Irrigation System

Keeping your landscaping properly watered can also be a big drain on your time. But if you have an irrigation system, you can make this whole process almost completely automatic.

For those who can afford or want to have an underground irrigation system, you can set up the system to turn on where you want and for the length of time that you want. But if you don’t want to go this route, you can still purchase timers to go on your hoses so that they turn on and off when you set them, making water a breeze.

Reduce How Much You Fertilize

While you likely want to have a yard that looks beautiful, you may not want to put in all the work for this yourself. But if this is what you have been doing in the past, making changes to things like how often and how much you fertilize can help. By cutting back on fertilization, you’ll encourage your landscaping to grow a bit slow, which will lessen the work for you.

If you are wanting to spend less of your free time working in the yard, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you see how this can be possible for you.
