If there is any silver lining to be found in the miserable state of this Giants team it is that at least we can count on a early pick in the NFL draft in 2020, lets be honest there isn’t much else to be excited about during this 7 game losing streak. Even the oddsmakers know how bad things are this season with sites like https://www.novibet.co.uk/sports regularly writing us off long before matchday, so let’s look ahead with optimism. The Giants will have the no.3 pick in what promises to be a high quality field, to be completely honest, we may very well end up with the first pick given the Bengals and the Redskins looking slightly less bad than us right now. We are fortunate in that we aren’t on the hunt for a QB as so many are, with Daniel Jones seeming to be the man for the job, we have to make this pick count therefore, and here are 4 options which the Giants should be considering.
Chase Young
Ohio State’s Chase Young is the best player in the 2020 class and his defensive qualities could really give us someone to base a team around. Young is a gifted rush passer, his 13.5 sacks is mighty impressive and he looks ready made to make the leap to the pros.
Isiah Simmons
Clemson LB Isiah Simmons is a linebacker who the Giants could really use with an all round game which will help the team in both defense and offense. Simmons leads the team in tackles (74) and sacks (6) and his ability in pass-rushing scenarios will be of great benefit. If Simmons is the man, that’ll be the first linebacker that we’ve selected in the first round since 1984.
Andrew Thomas
Thomas looks to be the perfect upgrade at right tackle on Nate Solder who has had a torrid time of late, and I think we all know that Mike Remmers was only ever a temporary option. Thomas has played both right and left side and his physicality is something to behold. This could be the perfect defensive choice for the Giants this season.
Jerry Jeudy
The Giants have got many holes to be plugged which is why we may not be looking to a wide receiver in the draft, if we do decide to however, Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy will make for the perfect option. Jeudy ended 2018 with 68 catches, 14 touchdowns and rushed 1,315 yards, which are the kind of stats that we’d love to have in this team. The searing pace of this young WR is incredible and the has the fancy footwork to boot. If Giants decide to go offensive rather than fixing the backline, this is the kid we need.
